As the Core training and technical assistance (T/TA) coordinator for SAMSHA’s CAPT, Valda manages the training and technical assistance materials review process and coordinates the planning and implementation of CAPT events. Her primary responsibilities include working with CAPT resource teams and Core staff in the development and production of well-designed, state-of-the-art substance abuse prevention training and technical assistance materials and tools to serve SAMHSA prevention grantees throughout the United States.
Valda has worked at Education Development Center, Inc. since 1988 and has been with SAMHSA’s CAPT since 2005. She has a B.A. in Germanic studies from Boston College and holds a M.Ed. in international education development from Boston University. She holds leadership and teaching positions at the Boston Latvian School and is a camp director at the Latvian Church Camp of New York. Valda is on the Board of the Latvian Foundation.
