Center for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives
The Mission of the Center for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives is to create an environment within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that welcomes the participation of faith-based and community-based organizations as valued and essential partners with the Department in assisting Americans in need.

Center for the Study and Prevention of Violence (CSPV)
CSPV was founded in 1992 with a grant from the Carnegie Corporation of New York to provide informed assistance to groups committed to understanding and preventing violence, particularly adolescent violence.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
The mission of the CDC is to promote health and quality of life by preventing and controlling disease, injury, and disability. Some highlights of the site are a prevention guideline database and search function. Also included is a useful document, "Guidelines for School Health Programs to Prevent Tobacco Use and Addiction."

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) Center for Excellence
The FASD Center is a Federal initiative devoted to preventing and treating FASD. This Web site provides information and about FASD. For more help, you can request training and technical assistance. They also provide materials you can use to raise awareness about FASD.

National Asian Pacific American Families Against Substance Abuse, Inc. (NAPAFASA)
NAPAFASA is a private, non-profit, 501(c)(3) membership organization dedicated to addressing the alcohol, tobacco, and other drug issues of Asian and Pacific Islander (API) populations on the continental U.S., Hawaii, the six Pacific Island jurisdictions and elsewhere. Founded in 1988, NAPAFASA involves service providers, families, and youth in efforts to reach API communities to promote health, social justice and reduce substance abuse and related problems.

National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors (NASADAD)
(NASADAD) is a private, not-for-profit educational, scientific, and informational organization. The Association was originally incorporated in 1971 to serve State Drug Agency Directors, and then in 1978 the membership was expanded to include State Alcoholism Agency Directors. Today all States have combined State Alcoholism and Drug Agency Directors. NASADAD's basic purpose is to foster and support the development of effective alcohol and other drug abuse prevention and treatment programs throughout every State.

The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University (CASA) is a unique think/action tank that brings together under one roof all of the professional disciplines needed to study and combat all forms of substance abuse -- illegal drugs, pills, alcohol and tobacco -- as they affect all aspects of society.

National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information
The National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information (NCADI) is the information service of the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration in the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. NCADI is the world's largest resource for current information and materials concerning substance abuse. NCADI offers substance abuse information that may be ordered free or as cost recovery items either online through the web site, by telephone, or fax. Online access is provided to ten searchable databases for bibliographic abstracts pertaining to such subjects as alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, cocaine, and other drugs. One valuable tool is the Quick Docs feature, with various documents available online to view and print.

National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA)
An institute organized into divisions and offices, each of which plays an important role in programs of drug abuse research.

National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA)
Publications, databases, news and events, grant information and other resources relating to alcohol abuse and alcoholism. Includes The Cool Spot, the young teen's place for information on alcohol and resisting peer pressure. Also includes Students Examining the Culture of College Drinking.

Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP)
OJJDP provides Federal leadership, through a comprehensive, coordinated approach, to prevent and control juvenile crime and improve the juvenile justice system.

Office of National Drug Control Policy
The principal purpose of ONDCP is to establish policies, priorities, and objectives for the Nation's drug control program, the goals of which are to reduce illicit drug use, manufacturing, and trafficking; drug-related crime and violence; and drug-related health consequences. To achieve these goals, the Director of ONDCP is charged with producing the National Drug Control Strategy, which directs the Nation's anti-drug efforts and establishes a program, a budget, and guidelines for cooperation among Federal, State, and local entities. Partnership for a Drug-Free America (Drug-Free Resource Net)
The Partnership for a Drug-Free America is a private, non-profit, non-partisan coalition of professionals from the communications industry. Best known for their national, anti-drug advertising campaign, their mission is to reduce demand for illicit drugs in America through media communication.

Prevention Platform
SAMHSA's Prevention Platform is an online resource for substance abuse prevention. The site contains highly interactive and educational tools provided by the SAMHSA's Center for Substance Abuse Prevention.

Reach Out Now
This website includes school-based, underage alcohol use prevention materials in time for Alcohol Awareness Month each April.

Safe and Drug-Free Schools Program
The Safe and Drug-Free Schools Program is the Federal government's primary vehicle for reducing alcohol, tobacco and other drug use, and violence, through education and prevention activities in our nation's schools.

SAMHSA's Family Guide
A Family Guide To Keeping Youth Mentally Healthy & Drug Free is a public education Web site developed by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to communicate to parents and other caring adults about how they can help promote their child's mental health and reduce his or her risk for becoming involved with alcohol, tobacco, and illegal drugs.

Stop Alcohol Abuse
StopAlcoholAbuse.Gov is a comprehensive portal of Federal resources for information on underage drinking and ideas for combating this issue. People interested in underage drinking prevention—including parents, educators, community-based organizations, and youth—will find a wealth of valuable information here.

Substance Abuse Librarians and Information Specialists (SALIS)
SALIS is an international association of individuals and organizations with special interests in the exchange and dissemination of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug (ATOD) information. The site includes a guide to alcohol and other drug libraries and information centers and/or special collections, along with a list of ATOD journal titles (with web-site links), new ATOD books, and an ATOD database list.
