Stop Alcohol Abuse
StopAlcoholAbuse.Gov is a comprehensive portal of Federal resources for information on underage drinking and ideas for combating this issue. People interested in underage drinking prevention—including parents, educators, community-based organizations, and youth—will find a wealth of valuable information here.

Too Smart to Start 
Too Smart To Start is a public education initiative that provides research-based strategies and materials to professionals and volunteers at the community level to help them conduct an underage alcohol use prevention program. The materials are designed to educate 9- to 13-year-olds about the harms of alcohol use and to support parents and caregivers as they participate in their children’s activities.

Enforcing the Underage Drinking Laws Program/A Compendium of Resources
This compendium provides practical information that States and units of local government can use to determine how Federal funds can enhance their strategies to prevent underage drinking. Includes an annotated bibliography. OJJDP. March 2001.

Epeer Voices
Epeer notes that, "more than 30 million kids and teens use the Internet on a regular basis, making it a natural arena for peer-to-peer communication!" This site allows teens (with permission of parents if under 18) to register as ePeer Leaders, receiving weekly e-mails with facts about drug use, tips, self-tests and notification of upcoming opportunities. Also links to other youth-focused anti-drug sites.

Higher Education Center for Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention
The Higher Education Center's purpose is to help college and community leaders develop, implement, and evaluate programs and policies to reduce student problems related to alcohol and other drug use and interpersonal violence. U.S. Department of Education.

Impaired Driving Among Youth: Trends and Tools for Prevention
Many strategies have been shown to prevent alcohol-related crashes among youth. This report examines the nature and extent of the problem and summarizes the most effective strategies, including age 21 laws, zero tolerance and graduated licensing.

Integrating Environmental Change Theory Into Prevention Practice
Strategies aimed at changing the shared environment have been shown to be effective in reducing underage alcohol use. Site includes an article, related reproducible overheads and a PowerPoint presentation from a presentation by Michael Klitzner, Ph.D., in a keynote address at the 11th Annual NPN Research Conference in 1998.

Missouri's Youth/Adult Alliance (Missouri specific)
Missouri's Youth/Adult Alliance (MYAA) is a coalition to reduce underage drinking. MYAA's mission is to empower community advocates to reduce youth access to alcohol in Missouri through the implementation of environmental and social policy change.

NIAAA Alcohol Alert on Underage Drinking
This January 2006 bulletin presents a detailed overview of the subject of underage alcohol use and includes recommended prevention strategies and a selection of promising prevention programs.

Reach Out Now: Talk with Your Fifth Graders about Underage Drinking
A unique collaboration between the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and Scholastic, Inc., has produced a two-part set of underage drinking-related materials designed especially for use by fifth-grade students, their families, and their teachers. Reach Out Now: Talk with Your Fifth Graders about Underage Drinking, a four-page set of lessons and in-class activities for teachers can be used as part of classroom instruction. Also included is a take-home packet for students and their parents: Talk with Your Fifth Grader about Underage Drinking.

Underage Drinking Action Guide and Planner
This action guide is intended to help communities create programs to prevent the tragedies that underage drinking can cause. The solution lies at the grassroots level where all members of a community can work together to create healthy environments. SAMHSA. (61 pgs)
