Colorado Uniform Minimum Standards for Prevention and Early Intervention Programs

Colorado Uniform Minimum Standards for Prevention and Intervention Programs were reviewed and adopted by the Colorado State Board of Health in March 2004 and approved by the State Attorney General’s Office in April 2004.

The intent of the standards is to create more uniform language and common expectations across state and local prevention/intervention programs; and to promote the provision of high quality prevention and intervention services throughout the state.

The Uniform, Minimum Standards Task Force of the Colorado Prevention Leadership Council (PLC), developed the framework for the standards; provided background information and reviewed existing standards; critiqued drafts of the standards and provided overall support in the completion of this project. Local prevention and intervention service providers reviewed and critiqued the proposed standards and provided comments and suggestions that significantly enhanced the final product.

The PLC is comprised of individuals from across six state agencies (including the Departments of Education, Human Services, Public Health and Environment, Public Safety, Transportation, and the Attorney General’s Office); two institutions of higher education (including the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center/Department of Preventive Medicine, and Colorado State University/ Cooperative Extension Service), and three statewide resource organizations (including the SW Center for the Application of Prevention Technology, and OMNI Research and Training.
