Special Project F: US Department of Education (US Grants to Reduce Alcohol Abuse (GRAA) The US Department of Education, Office of Elementary and Secondary Education: Safe and Drug Free Schools Program (SDFS) and SAMHSA/CSAP have agreed that the SECAPT will provide training and technical assistance to local educational agencies’ grantees under ED’s “Reduce Alcohol Abuse” program targeting the reduction of alcohol use and abuse among secondary school students. In 2004 and 2005, grants were awarded for up to three years (based on funding availability) to twelve school districts in the Southeast region. Each grantee has implemented one or more of CSAP’s model programs for this purpose. The CAPTs provide one national training and technical assistance conferences and a regional training and technical assistance conference each year for the grantees. The CAPTs also provide and facilitate individual training and technical assistance opportunities for grantees as needed and as funds allow.
