| Target Audience: |
| The target audience is any group of individuals that wishes to
improve its facilitation skills. An example might be new trainers
or technical assistance providers with sufficient content knowledge,
but without experience or expertise in conveying that knowledge to
groups. |
| |
| Training Objectives: |
| The objective is to provide an overview of effective group facilitation
skills, allowing participants to find and develop their own styles.
There is no single effective method of communication with individuals
or groups. What is important on the path to becoming an effective
facilitator is to learn one’s own strengths and weaknesses
relative to this task. |
| |
| Format: |
| The ideal format for this training is a three-part series of two-hour
sessions spread over a period of one month or six weeks. The first
session is largely lecture, and the subsequent two sessions are highly
interactive asking participants to practice their skills in small
groups and pairs using “real life” scenarios moderated
by the facilitator. |
| |
| Number of Participants: |
| The number of participants can effectively range from 10 to 30. |
| |
| Time Frame: |
| Six to nine hours spread over a period of one month to six weeks
and divided into three sessions. |
