Michael Garza —
IT Coordinator/Program Associate
Michael Garza, IT Coordinator / Program Associate in PIRE’s Louisville
Center, has been with PIRE since April 2003. Michael has over a dozen
years experience with the production of publications for both government
and public use, which includes: manuscript submissions for journal publications,
proposal production, formatting reports and newsletters, design and production
of presentation materials. His experience includes over 9 years with the
U.S. Air Force as a communications (Spanish) linguist and research analyst
for a government research development team. His time in the service included
maintaining multi-million dollar communications equipment and training
staff on its use. In addition, he found time to brief senior governmental
personages regarding analysis findings on ad hoc tasks. After leaving
the Air Force, he enjoyed three years working for General Electric (later
General Dynamics) as a Senior Telecommunications Analyst providing reports
and presentations to the company’s senior management.
After spending a couple of years away from the analyst role, Michael
joined PIRE’s family as a Senior Production Specialist out of the
Calverton Office. Since July 2005, he has been devoted to overseeing Louisville
Center’s IT equipment and software, as well as assisting Dr. Johnson
on his many tasks. His time spent at multiple colleges and universities
have produced a couple of instances on the Dean’s list, most recently
for Fall 2005 at Indiana University. He is currently enrolled in Indiana’s
Wesleyan University’s Bachelor’s in Business Administration
program with an expected completion date of October 2007.
