Linda C. Young, M.A. — Center Director Linda C. Young, M.A., is Center Director for the PIRE-Louisville Center , which administers the Southeast CAPT. Ms. Young was President of Community Systems Research Institute, Inc. (CSRI) prior to its merger with Pacific Institute. She has more than nineteen years of research and administrative management experience in not-for-profit social science research organizations. Her other previous positions include Senior Survey Director for the National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago, Director of the Pacific Institute Survey Research Center—a 60-workstation data collection facility in Berkeley, California—and Associate Director of the University of Louisville Urban Research Institute. Ms. Young’s research management experience includes all phases of the research process from design to proposal development, analysis, report writing, and presentation of findings. Her primary area of expertise is in the area of survey research, instrument and technical plan development and project implementation including quality control methods and procedures for very large and complex research projects. She has collaborated with research scientists to develop and direct research projects covering a wide range of substantive areas including the evaluation of international training programs, healthcare policies and programs, alcohol and drug prevention initiatives, economic impact studies, and criminal victimization. She has managed multi-million dollar research projects funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, CDC’s Agency for Toxic Substance and Disease Registry, the National Science Foundation, the National Institute for Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. She currently serves as Co-PI on the Evaluation of the International Law Enforcement Academy in Bangkok, Thailand and the Follow-Up Study to Assess the Long-Term Impact of the Drug Free Training in Peru, both funded by the State Department Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement. Ms. Young’s combined research and administrative management expertise serves to ensure that all Institute projects are adequately staffed with highly skilled research professionals and that they are organized and managed efficiently with the highest standards of quality control. She holds a Master of Arts in Sociology from the University of Louisville. |
