Charline R. McCord, Ph.D. — Deputy Director for Communications/Associate Director

Charline R. McCord, Ph.D., serves PIRE and CSAP’s Southeast CAPT as the Deputy Director of Communications and Associate Director. As such, she assists the Director in the oversight of the CAPT’s daily operations and communications. Prior to coming to PIRE Charline was Managing Editor, Editor-in-Chief, and Vice-President of Publishing for a Mississippi-based regional health promotion and educational publishing company, where she ran a busy publishing division for five years. Charline is experienced in prevention publishing and communications, and is both a certified grants specialist and a certified grants reviewer. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English from Mississippi College, and a Ph.D. in English from the University of Southern Mississippi. She has taught English courses at several area colleges, and is the editor of four Christmas collections—Christmas Stories from Mississippi (University Press of MS, 2001), A Very Southern Christmas (Algonquin Books, 2003), Christmas in the South (Algonquin Books, 2004), and Dixie Christmas (Algonquin Books, 2005).
