Julie Stevens, a long-time training and technical assistance (T/TA) specialist with the CAPT’s Southwest Resource Team, was recently awarded the International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium (IC&RC)’s 2011 Presidential Leadership Award in recognition of outstanding contribution and support given to the substance abuse prevention profession.
A Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor and an Advanced Certified Prevention Specialist with 25 years of experience in the prevention field, Julie served as Chair of the IC&RC Prevention Committee. She has been a part of the CAPT system since 2001, working with States across the southwest to implement SAMHSA’s Strategic Prevention Framework and strengthen the prevention workforce.
According to Marie Cox, Coordinator for the CAPT’s Southeast Resource Team, “Julie's experience and her thorough understanding of the needs of the prevention workforce make her an invaluable member of the CAPT. We are very fortunate to have her as a resource. Her contributions to the field have enhanced the quality of the T/TA we all provide.”
