As the Communications and Products Manager for SAMHSA's CAPT, Melanie is responsible for developing training and technical assistance products that accurately reflect the science of prevention and meet the evolving needs of SAMHSA grantees. To do this, she works closely with staff across the CAPT system to identify and prioritize product needs, and develop quality materials, both in-print and online, that are clear, compelling, relevant, and reflect SAMHSA priorities. Melanie also manages the CAPT area of SAMHSA's website, identifying and/or developing a collection of online tools that reflect the work of the CAPT and its grantees, and inform prevention practices.
Melanie brings extensive experience in health communications and instructional design to SAMHSA's CAPT. She has written and edited numerous products on a variety of public health topics, including bullying, substance abuse prevention, HIV and STD prevention, and intergenerational learning. She earned her S.M. in health and social behavior from the Harvard School of Public Heath and her B.S. in biology from Wesleyan University.
