As the Communications and Products Manager for SAMHSA's CAPT, Melanie is responsible for developing training and technical assistance products that accurately reflect the science of prevention and meet the evolving needs of SAMHSA grantees. Her job is to make sure that CAPT materials are clear, compelling, and relevant. She does this by working closely with members of the CAPT Technology Transfer Team to identify and prioritize product needs, and with Resource Team staff to develop quality presentations that reflect SAMHSA's standards. Melanie also oversees the CAPT’s distance learning program and content development for the CAPT area of SAMHSA's website.
Melanie brings extensive experience in health communications and instructional design to SAMHSA's CAPT. She has written and edited numerous products on a variety of public health topics, including bullying, substance abuse prevention, HIV and STD prevention, and intergenerational learning. She earned her S.M. in health and social behavior from the Harvard School of Public Heath and her B.S. in biology from Wesleyan University.
