As the products and marketing director for SAMHSA's CAPT, Melanie is responsible for developing training and technical assistance products that accurately reflect the science of prevention and meet the evolving needs of SAMHSA prevention grantees, as well as the broader prevention field. To do this, she works closely with staff across the CAPT system to identify and prioritize product needs, and develop quality materials, both in print and online, that are clear, compelling, and relevant; reflect SAMHSA priorities, and inform prevention practices.
Melanie brings extensive experience in health communications and instructional design to SAMHSA's CAPT. She has written and edited numerous products on a variety of public health topics, including bullying, substance abuse prevention, HIV and STD prevention, and intergenerational learning. She earned her S.M. in health and social behavior from the Harvard School of Public Health and her B.S. in biology from Wesleyan University.
