As the Associate Coordinator for the Southwest Resource Team, LaShonda is responsible for providing training and technical assistance to assigned SAMHSA grantees to support them in reducing the impact of substance abuse in communities. LaShonda also participates in the Southwest Resource Team’s Management Team as core management personnel.
Prior to joining the CAPT, LaShonda worked at PreventionWorkz, Inc. a block grant funded area prevention resource center in Enid, OK. While at PreventionWorkz, Inc. she provided technical assistance to various coalitions coalescing on issues that ranged from suicide prevention to illicit drug use in rural communities. She also coordinated a teen mentoring program called Teens Need Teens (TNT). Using her prevention and community knowledge she mobilized youth and adults to strategically plan, implement, and successfully sustain their prevention efforts.
She is an internationally certified prevention specialist and holds a Master of Education in adult education and administration from Northwestern Oklahoma State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in history from University of Oklahoma.
