In his role as research assistant, Akwasi provides support to the CAPT Core and Resource Teams as they work with State and local prevention practitioners to design, implement, and evaluate their evidence-based substance abuse prevention efforts. He contributes to materials development, conducts literature searches, obtains articles, and reviews and summarizes research literature and best practices.
Prior to joining the CAPT, Akwasi worked as a quality assurance lab technician for Unilever Breyers Ice Cream. He also served as a public health intern with the Fairfield Health Department, assisting with the implementation of a 16-week evidence based program designed to help people at high risk for diabetes. Akwasi earned a Master of Public Health in Health Promotion from Southern Connecticut State University and a Bachelor of Art in Biology from Clark University.
