For this activity, you will analyze three anti-smoking advertisements.* After reading the description for each ad, click on the video description to the right under the photo. There, you will find the script for each ad. If you wish, print the ads to help you answer the questions below:

For each ad, please answer the following questions and post your responses to the Message Board:

How would you summarize the message the ad is trying to send?
Based on the focus group information in Teen Focus Group Responses to Counter-Advertising Messages, how effective do you think this advertisement would be at reducing or preventing teen smoking? Why?
How might you critique the ad, based on the guidance of Tips for Success in Health Promotion Campaigns?

This database contains detailed information on an extensive collection of tobacco counter-advertisements for television, radio, print, and outdoor use.
