Now let's analyze an advertisement to examine how some of the key elements of social marketing were used to create a message. Consider the following advertisement:

  1. Who is the target audience for this advertisement?

  2. What does this audience care about? What are their needs and wants?

  3. How would you summarize the message the ad is trying to send?

  4. What exchange is being created? Remember: social marketing relies on the exchange principle, in which a behavior is exchanged for a benefit to the audience. What behavior does this advertisement ask the audience to adopt, and what is the implied benefit to that audience?
