Success and Sustainability of Effective CoalitionsTarget Audience: Community-based prevention practitioners and other local representatives of coalitions. This workshop is appropriate for newly forming as well as existing coalition members. Training Objectives: Participants will be able to: • Describe
the characteristics of effective coalitions
• Explore how failure to complete basic developmental tasks of coalitions • Identify strategies to overcome barriers through sharing with other • Practice using tools to help a coalition develop a plan of action Format of Training: This training examines the qualities and benefits of effective coalition development, as well as strategies for leading and sustaining a coalition initiative. Participants conduct an analysis of the various systems within their state and/or community and develop strategies for identifying and recruiting key organizations and individual members. CSAP's Northeast CAPT trainers will use the following techniques throughout this workshop: • Presentation
of background material
• Large group discussion designed to draw lessons and experiences from participants Timeframe: Two versions of this training are available. The first can be conducted in a half-day session, this session can be expanded into a two-day training by including optional modules on specific topics, going deeper into one subject, or covering a topic more briefly. Number of participants: Minimum of 10 up to a maximum of 50 participants. These trainings are available from CSAPs Northeast CAPT.
