Tools for Selecting Appropriate Community Substance Abuse
Prevention Programs

Read Transcript

Date: October 5, 2005, 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Selecting the appropriate evidence based program can be challenging. Not all programs are right for all communities. One important step in the selection process is to determine the feasibility of implementing a particular evidence based program. Feasibility assessment is a structured, systematic process designed to help you assess the ease of implementing a single program or choose the most appropriate program from among several possibilities. Failure to assess feasibility might not only compromise program selection, but also jeopardize future prevention funding efforts.

This interactive learning event will introduce participants to a feasibility assessment tool that they can use in their communities. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and connect with prevention experts, as well as other individuals in the field of substance abuse prevention.
