I. Overview:

The Professional Student Assistance model, based on the employee assistance model, involves a professional staff providing a variety of activities and services to youth such as wellness, outreach, assessments of services, individual and group counseling and referral. This audioconference is for LEAs and recipients of Grants to Reduce Substance Abuse who are implementing or interested in implementing a professional student assistance program. The specific content will focus on questions submitted by participants prior to the teleconference.

II. Objectives:

  • Objectives for the Student Assistance Programs Audioconference
  • Identify barriers and solutions to implementing a professional student assistance program
  • Increase understanding of the key elements needed to develop a student assistance program
  • Increase awareness of The Professional Student Assistance Program model and the Project Success Model
  • Identify strategies to engage students from across cultural perspective
  • Increase understanding of program readiness as it relates to professional student assistance programs
