Education

Schools offer opportunities to reach the most children and also serve as important settings for specific at-risk groups, such as children with behavior problems and learning disabilities. Prevention education programs can impart knowledge and develop skills, though research shows that alone they are insufficient to produce far-reaching and long-lasting change. Besides school-based health and prevention education for students, education and training efforts aimed at adults who interact with youth also contribute to prevention.
