Each online event includes between two and four activities designed to facilitate the exchange of ideas, foster the development of an online community of learning, and deepen participants' capacity to provide effective prevention programs. Some activities take advantage of the unique possibilities offered by an online environment, such as the ability to go offline; collect information from your agency, community, or state; then return to the discussion, at your convenience, to share what you've learned. Other activities have been adapted from the CAPT's face-to-face trainings, for example:

  • Question and answer sessions, where, for example, participants can exchange tips for using the Web to enhance prevention, share prevention strategies, or describe local successes and struggles

  • Small-group discussions around specific issues, such as how to apply key prevention strategies, choose effective programs, or increase cultural competence

  • Case analysis of real-life or video-based scenarios to deepen problem-solving skills

  • Action planning, using checklists and worksheets provided online

The success of these activities depends on your active involvement. We hope you will enjoy many stimulating and informative discussions, but this can only happen if you play an active role. Below are some tips for getting the most out of each session:
  • Log in and participate! Plan to log on at least once a day and participate in the online activities as often as you can. You can share long or short messages, ask big or small questions, or contribute brief reactions to the messages posted by other participants and the moderator.

  • Allow adequate time to review new information and messages.

  • Don't hesitate to contact us through the Event Support page with any questions or comments. We promise you a quick response.

  • Relax and have fun with this opportunity to learn and connect with your fellow prevention practitioners.
