Swope
Ms. Swope is currently a CSAP Northeast CAPT Associate providing training
and technical assistance to state systems in substance abuse prevention.
She is also an Associate with the Metrowest Technical Assistance Center.
Both projects are housed at Education Development Center, Inc. in Newton,
MA. She provides training and technical assistance to communities throughout
Metrowest in developing effective community solutions to youth substance
abuse. Her background includes teaching in regular and special education
settings and a clinical practice serving children and families for over
10 years. She then moved to the prevention end of the human services continuum
through work as youth development specialist for the MA Prevention Center
in Framingham and subsequently as director for the Center for Healthy Communities
in Central MA, engaging in positive sustainable community initiatives,
positive youth development and the prevention of substance abuse. Ms. Swope
continues to work independently as coach, facilitator and trainer for community
groups and non-profit agencies planning and implementing healthy communities’ approaches.
Ms. Swope holds a M.Ed. from UMASS Amherst in counseling psychology. She
also holds a B.Ed in early childhood education, concentration in special
needs, from Wheelock College and an Associate Degree in visual art from
Quinsigamond Community College. |
