Training Overview
Approaches to Prevention Evaluation
Goal:
To improve programming by helping participants to design and plan
prevention program evaluations.
Target Audience:
This workshop is designed for individuals with little or no training in evaluation. Typical participants are program directors and managers, grant writers, occasionally funders and those who provide direct services. Although the course is not designed for program evaluators, program managers might find it useful to invite evaluators to join in the training.
Training Objectives:
As a result of participating in this training, participants will be better able to:
- Identify key evaluation questions to be answered by evaluation of
their programs.
- Determine how to use quantitative and qualitative evaluation
strategies in evaluating prevention programs.
- Identify resources that can be used in prevention program evaluation.
- Develop plans to report and disseminate results.
Format of Training:
The workshop can run anywhere from 90 minutes to a full day.
Ninety-minute workshop- distribute participant handouts, review pitfalls, key ideas and selected handouts.
Half-day workshop- give handouts, review pitfalls and key ideas and do indicated activities.
Full-day workshop- give handouts, review pitfalls and key ideas, complete all exercises and engage in significant discussion.
