The Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services (ODADAS) oversees Ohio’s publicly funded system for alcohol and other drug prevention and treatment services. The Department allocates federal and state funding to 50 county Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services (ADAMH) or Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services (ADAS) Boards. As local units of government, the Boards determine local needs, plan for services and monitor provider agencies (Ohio Revised Code (ORC) Section 340.033 and Chapter 3793). The boards contract with more than 360 agencies for the delivery of alcohol and other drug (AOD) prevention, treatment and recovery support services in more than 900 programs. Across the state, a full continuum of AOD services is provided, including prevention, intervention, treatment and aftercare/recovery support. For more information go to: http://www.odadas.state.oh.us
Ohio Resource Network for Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities The Ohio Resource Network for Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities is a network of regional resource centers in eight Ohio cities. Each ORN is coordinated by a community agency. Staff at each site are available to help customers and professionals access prevention materials, to coordinate regional training on the best practices in alcohol and other drug abuse prevention and school safety, and to provide technical assistance in program development and implementation.
Single State Agency (SSA) is the organization designated by the State Governor to coordinate substance abuse prevention efforts in that state. State Regional Alcohol and Drug Awareness Resource (RADAR) Network consists of state clearinghouses, prevention resource centers, Department of Education Regional Training Centers, and national, international, and local organization supporting substance abuse prevention activities. The National Prevention Network (NPN), an organization of State alcohol and other drug abuse prevention representatives, provides a national advocacy and communication system for prevention. NPN is administered by NASADAD.
