The CSAP's Central CAPT Associates Network is a group of trained prevention specialists who are available to provide training and technical assistance to move science-based prevention into practice.

Central CAPT assigns Associates to provide training and technical assistance based on availability, expertise, and location. Please contact Linda Ryden for more information at 800-782-1878 ext. 146.

Jerri Allers, Chicago, IL. CSADP, retired after over ten years of directing a community-based prevention program in Southwest Cook County and after many more years in the prevention field.  She has extensive experience as a parent educator and is a trainer for several CSAP Model programs, positive communication skills, group facilitation, assertiveness as well as Steven Covey’s “Seven Habits of Highly Effective People.”  She currently trains for Hazelden and serves on several community coalitions.  She is a member of the Illinois Alcohol and Drug Dependency Association and serves on their Prevention Advisory Council.

Kathy Asper, Watertown, SD. Presently serves as Coordinator for four MAPP-SD (Meth Awareness and Prevention Project of South Dakota) community coalitions. Experience includes over 20 years in the field of drug and violence prevention. Internationally Certified as Prevention Specialist since 1994. Recipient of South Dakota's Outstanding Prevention Professional award in 1998.

Kirsten Dawson, Arden Hills, MN. High School Chemical Education Counselor. Works with both students and parents, individually and in groups. Trains parents and other community groups in alcohol and drug use prevention skills. Works with coaches on planning pre-season meetings for athletes, participants, and their parents.

Denise Denton, Ames, IA. Youth and Shelter Services Certified Prevention Specialist. More than 25 years of experience working with youth and communities in the area of substance abuse prevention, speaking and training on issues affecting youth including stress and suicide, juvenile justice, self-esteem and youth development. Also, Senior Lecturer at Iowa State University, conducting undergraduate and graduate classes on drug education and substance use prevention; guest instructor at University of Iowa Annual Summer School for Helping Professionals. Member of the Governor's Juvenile Justice Advisory Council.

JoAnn Evetts, Belle Fourche, SD. JoAnn has taken a sabbatical leave and is working on a Masters Degree in Social Work. Prior to this, she has worked as the State Prevention Coordinator and Safe and Drug-Free Schools Coordinator for South Dakota, as well as a family therapist and counselor for individuals with disabilities. She also holds a Masters Degree in Psychology that she earned from New Mexico Highlands University, Las Vegas, NM. She has been an Associate for Central CAPT since May 2000. She has provided trainings and technical assistance in the following areas: Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist Training and Environmental Strategies.

Darcy Jensen, Sioux Falls, SD. Director, Prairie View Prevention Services which oversees the MAPP-SD project. Developing a state wide network of community coalitions focused on methamphetamine prevention. Experience consulting with federal, state and local agencies including the Sioux Falls School District, Community Prevention/Mobilization, and Meth Task Force. Director of Sioux Falls Parent Communication Network. Member, White House Advisory Council on Parent and Youth Substance Issues. Certified Prevention Specialist and Certified Level III Chemical Dependency Counselor.

Chuck Klevgaard, Revere, MA . Chuck currently serves as the Prevention Coordinator for the Bureau of Substance Abuse Services in the State of Massachusetts. He participates on the SPF-SIG management team and serves as the facilitator of the Massachusetts epidemiological work group. He has been a CAPT Associate for seven years and has developed an expertise in working with states on strategic planning and a variety of topics around the strategic prevention framework including coalition building, social marketing and sustainability.

Michael Langford, Cincinnati, OH. Executive Director/CEO, Urban Minority Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Outreach Program of Cincinnati, Inc. Experience providing prevention and community-based programming at the local, state and national levels since 1986. Serves on numerous boards and committees addressing individual, family and community issues. Holds certification as an Ohio Prevention Specialist II and is an Ohio Violence Prevention Specialist and Trainer/Facilitator. Facilitator for Black Children of Addicted Parents Group and member of the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors. Member of the National Association of African Americans for Positive Imagery. Prevention Advisory Committee member of the Ohio Chemical Dependency Credentialing Board and founding Board Member of the Ohio African American Coalition for Optimal Health.

Margaret Lebak, Bismarck, ND. Outreach Coordinator for the Division of Tobacco Prevention and Control for the North Dakota Department of Health. Provides training, technical assistance and consultation to local public health units in eastern North Dakota. This includes promoting comprehensive tobacco prevention programs for schools, promoting tobacco-free worksites, developing and implementing tobacco cessation programs, and reaching out to special populations with tobacco control efforts. Former Director of Drug Free North Dakota. Has served as a member of the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA) Advisory Committee and as the State Alliance Coordinator for the Partnership for a Drug-Free America.

Mark Lomurray, Bismarck, ND. Mark has thirty years experience working with adolescents and families related to health risk behaviors, especially suicide, substance abuse, violence, and incidents of trauma. He specializes in development of rural and tribal prevention efforts and has designed and implemented cutting edge approaches toward using mentoring, teen leadership, education curriculums, and small group supports with communities, schools, cultural, and faith groups. He is the co-founder of the North Dakota Suicide Prevention Task Force and presently the project director for the North Dakota Adolescent Suicide Prevention Project which has won the American Public Health Association’s national  Public Health Practice Award for 2005. He is also the director of the North Dakota Tribal/Rural Mentoring Partnership, one of the nation’s largest tribal/rural mentoring efforts with over 475 mentor-matches meeting with youth.  He also founded and directed designed and implemented the OJJDP national award winning Anger/Conflict Program.  As a CAPT Associate and an Adjunct Professor for the University of North Dakota School of Medicine, Mark brings a broad background in crisis intervention, family counseling, community development, and adventure based programs.  He has been highly regarded for building bridges between evidence based practice and work in tribal, rural, and faith-based settings. 

Dee McGraw, East Grand Rapids, MI. Over 10 years of experience in the prevention field, coordinating prevention efforts in a six-county area for the State of Michigan, subsequently, coordinating substance abuse training state wide. Additional experience as a trainer/consultant for CSAP's Managed Care Section and as a reviewer of local, state and federal grant applications.

JoAnne McNemar, Clarksburg, WV. Has an MS in Community Health Education, Certified Prevention Specialist II. Provides trainings and resources related to effective substance abuse prevention programs throughout West Virginia. Coordinates technical assistance efforts regarding community development, and personal and professional development. Serves as a liaison to community groups, educational institutions, community service organizations and other state agencies. Assists in the planning and implementation of trainings and special events on a local, regional and statewide level.

Lisa Miller, Haslett, MI. Community Prevention Specialist, Michigan Department of Community Health/Office of Drug Control Policy. Prevention experience of 20 years in the areas of: service coordination/administration; strategic planning; program, policy and procedure development/implementation; community/coalition development and capacity building; contract development/monitoring; service delivery; prevention data collection; evaluation; resource development; consultation; training; technical assistance; and Strategic Prevention Framework consultation.

Kathy Paxton, S. Charleston, WV. Director, Behavioral Health Initiatives, Center for Learning Excellence, the Ohio State University John Glenn Institute for Public Service and Public Policy. Kathy graduated from West Virginia University School of Medicine with a Master of Science Degree in Community Health Education. Her combined experience of over 25 years in the field of mental health and substance abuse prevention and treatment have afforded her the ability to provide expertise in all areas of behavioral health with a specialty in Perinatal Substance Abuse and leadership in planning, facilitation, and evaluation at the local, state, and national level as a trainer and consultant.

Patricia (Trisha) E. Prentice, Redby, MN. Grantwriter II, Red Lake Nation. Certified as a CDC Level III Substance Abuse Counselor with more than 15 years of experience in substance abuse prevention and treatment efforts. Serves as chairperson for the Healing Paths Project advisory board and member of Royalty Committee for the Red Lake Nation.

Molly Stone, W. Jefferson, OH. Molly is an Ohio Certified Prevention Specialist II and a Licensed Social Worker with  a Bachelors’ Degree in Education from The Ohio State University.  She has over 15 years experience in prevention project development and management and provides training and technical assistance to prevention professionals  in the areas of program planning, design and implementation, evaluation, budget and data collection to advance evidence based prevention programs, policies, strategies and practices.  She also serves on several state and national committees.

Tasha Wilkerson, Chicago, IL. New Birth Christian Center. Certified Alcohol and Drug Preventionist. Ten years of experience focusing on outcome based program planning for youth and community prevention efforts. Works closely with Chicago social service providers. Experience facilitating programs including: Life Skills, All Stars, Effective Parental Involvement Strategies, Prevention Basics, Consulting Skills, Effective Group Facilitation, Environmental Strategies, Community Organizing, Cultural Competencies and Coalition Building.

Chris Wilson, Johnston, IA. Prevention Coordinator, Johnston Community Schools. Chris is a Certified Prevention Specialist II from West Des Moines, IA with over 10 years of experience in the field of substance abuse prevention. Administers several grant programs that focus on positive youth development, community collaboration, and substance use prevention within the Johnston Community Schools.  Chris also leads grant writing teams in an effort to create sustainability for school and community programs and is an experienced local and state level grant reviewer. In addition to her work with the schools, Chris serves on numerous local and state level committees to further prevention in the State of Iowa.  Chris is an experienced trainer working with communities throughout Iowa and the CSAP’s Central CAPT region to provide training and technical assistance related to prevention and community development.     

Kathryn Wolf, Madison, WI. Director, Wisconsin Clearinghouse for Prevention Resources. Experience as Director of the University of Wisconsin's Adolescent Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Intervention program, serving on school and community committees and providing workshops on a variety of ATOD prevention issues. Has over 20 years of experience working across the continuum of services in the mental health, substance abuse and tobacco control fields. She also served on the management team of the Wisconsin State Incentive Grant and is the developer of the Wisconsin State Prevention Conference. As an instructor, Kathryn has been trained in the following model programs: Keep a Clear Mind, All Stars, Creating Lasting Family Connections, Sticks n' Stones Youth Violence Prevention, Communities Mobilizing for Change, and Project Venture. In addition, she has extensive experience working in tribal communities.

Andrea Carter, Minneapolis, MN. President/CEO of Angel Institute Inc., which consults for several organizations in the areas of Youth Development and Empowerment, Substance Abuse Prevention, Early Childhood Education and Parent Education. Ms. Carter provides education and training sessions locally, nationally and internationally. She has provided workshops throughout the state and nationally on a variety of ATOD prevention topics. Andrea is a Certified Prevention Professional.

Andres Flores Fioravanti, Minneapolis, MN. Andres has eight years experience working for a non-profit in the Twin Cites providing chemical health services predominately for the Latino community. He participated in the development of many tobacco control efforts that required community involvement statewide. He also volunteered at the Red Cross St Paul Chapter with Spanish HIV training-the-trainer prevention sessions. He is currently working at Lutheran Social Services as a Coordinator of a new financial program in the community.

John Johnson, Bay City, MI. John is a Certified Prevention Specialist II with over 16 years of experience in the field of substance abuse prevention. He currently serves as a Prevention Specialist for the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe of Michigan, and has provided prevention education trainings to other Native American communities. John was the Drug and Alcohol NCO for his active Army and National Guard units.

Robert Baldwin, Janesville, WI. Currently employed by the School District of Janesville, WI; he promotes and creates diversity initiatives within the school district. He works with students in their Human Relations Clubs and provides in-service training for staff, and chairs the District Diversity Committee and serves on Disproportion and Truancy Committees. In the field of prevention, Robert served as Project Coordinator for Partners in Prevention, Rock County, recipient of a Wisconsin State Incentive Grant.

Oliver Reed, Rockford, IL. Violence Prevention Coordinator for the Winnebago County Health Department, Oliver has been in the field of substance abuse prevention for approximately 15 years. His experience includes grant writing, development and facilitation of prevention programs, along with being a motivational speaker among middle and high school students on topics such as the importance of education, gang prevention and substance abuse prevention. He is on the board of South West Ideas for Today and Tomorrow, working with business owners to create a safer more productive Rockford.

Albert Gay, Gary IN. Currently with a Prevention Department of Geminus Corporation, with the position of Program Director for a prevention program that is run within the State of Indiana. Albert was ordained into the ministry in 1994 and since has worked with youth in many capacities. He has worked as an administrator and teacher in school environments, and volunteered with youth in the Cub Scouts through the Urban Scouting Program and the Boy Scouts. He is a Certified Prevention Professional through the Indiana Association of Prevention Professionals.

Kirsten Lindbloom, Austin, MN. Social Programs Manager, Parenting Resource Center, Inc., and Mower County Chemical Health Coalition Coordinator. Kirsten has over ten years of community coalition experience and oversees several state and federal funded ATOD prevention programs. She is skilled in the areas of community organizing, policy development and advocacy, grant writing, youth leadership development, coalition development, community coalition growth and sustainability, media development and social norms marketing and program evaluation. In 2003, Kirsten received the Minnesota Join Together Outstanding Advocate Award.

Katherine Jobin, Champaign, IL. Kathy is a nurse and Certified Alcohol and Drug Prevention Specialist and has worked and volunteered in the prevention field since 1987. She has worked as the Director of the Youth Substance Abuse Prevention Program with Illinois Church Action on Alcohol and Addiction Problems since 1996, and is currently Co-President of the Illinois Drug Education Alliance. She has delivered numerous programs relating to substance abuse prevention and continues her prevention efforts as well as being a state partner through the Illinois Drug Education Alliance to the National Program of Parent Corps.
