Training and Technical Assistance Specialist
As a Training and Technical Assistance (T/TA) Specialist for SAMHSA's CAPT’s Northeast Resource Team, Lourdes provides services to States, Territories, and grantees of SAMHSA’s Minority HIV/AIDS Initiative and U.S. Department of Education’s Grants to Reduce Alcohol Abuse Program. With more than 20 years of experience working in the areas of substance abuse, mental health, and quality and program management fields, Lourdes has placed special interest in strategic prevention planning, translating prevention theory to practice, and working with under-sourced and Hispanic communities. In her current position, she provides technical assistance and coaching to States and Territories in designing and facilitating systems development and change at the State, regional, and community levels. She has served as a temporary advisor to the Pan-American Health Organization, providing assistance in alcohol-related policing to countries in South America. She has a Masters of Social Work degree and has completed additional graduate courses in social planning and public administration.
