As a Training and Technical Assistance Associate on SAMHSA's CAPT team, Korene supports SAMHSA's CAPT Training and Technical Assistance (T/TA) providers as they work with State and local prevention practitioners to design, implement, and evaluate their evidence-based substance abuse prevention efforts. She also contributes to materials development, developing new materials, conducting literature searches, obtaining articles, and reviewing and summarizing research literature and best practices in specific areas. In addition, Korene works with Core and regional staff to implement many of the technology tools that the SAMHSA's CAPT uses to collaborate and provide TA remotely.

Prior to joining SAMHSA's CAPT, Korene worked with Rhode Island’s Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grant and as a research assistant on the State’s Tobacco Control Enhancement Project, collaborating with graduate assistants in providing TA to diverse community-based organizations and the Rhode Island Department of Health. She also provided research assistance for the MetroWest TA Center’s Youth Substance Abuse Initiative, housed at Education Development Center, Inc.
