Writer/Editor
Jenny joined SAMHSA's CAPT to help revise and update the Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist Training (SAPST), a 40 hour face-to-face workforce development training that provides an introduction to the fundamentals of substance abuse prevention. In her role as the writer and editor, she is responsible for coordinating the revision of the training, from inception to completion. Working with a team of content experts, trainers, and research assistants, she manages the writing and editing process to ensure that the content—including the powerpoint slides, case studies, activities, and handouts—are clear, up-to-date, culturally relevant, engaging, and applicable to the target audience.
Jenny has a broad background in communications. Previously, she was the senior writer for EDC’s Health and Human Development Division, overseeing the conceptualization, writing, and production of articles, videos, and promotional material. The author of two books, Education and Public Health and A Spark in the Dark, she has also written monographs, toolkits, facilitator’s guides, and web-based professional development courses on a variety of health and education topics. In addition to her writing experience, she spent 10 years in television production on award-winning PBS documentaries. Jenny earned her M.A. in the field of psychology from John F. Kennedy College and her B.A. from Boston College.
