Training and Technical Assistance Specialist
David Brave Heart is a Training and Technical Assistance Specialist for the Central Resource Team and he is an Oglala Lakota enrolled on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. He has more than 20 years of experience in reentry with American Indian offenders. David has provided pre- and post- release services for adult and youth American Indian offenders as a case manager and program manager with the Walks Tall program through the Council on Crime and Justice. He has done impressive work with community corrections in advocating for culturally based programming in reducing the recidivism and incarceration rate of American Indian offenders. David has also done extensive work as a counselor/therapist, and trainer, in addressing both substance abuse and chemical dependency. David holds a bachelors degree in Education and has dedicated his efforts to the promotion of holistic well-being through cultural teachings and way of life.
