B. Evaluating Issue Focus/Goal Importance
You may have questions about whether the risk and protective factors you've selected are really the most important for your community. There are several ways to address this evaluation question.
1. Methods & Data Sources
- Needs and Resources Assessment Data: If you have engaged in a thorough process of needs and resource assessment, this data should be able to help you determine whether you are focusing on the most important risk and protective factors. See Steps 2, 3, & 4 of "Building a Successful Prevention Program."
- Community Survey: It is also possible to conduct a community survey of the importance of the risk and protective factors you've chosen. [see below].
