Structure of Alaska's system
Alaska’s Department of Health & Social Services was reconfigured to merge the substance abuse and mental health services into one division – the Division of Behavioral Health. The Department delivers statewide services primarily through a competitive community grant process; the Division oversees grants for services implementing prevention, early intervention, and treatment. The mission of the Division is to manage an integrated and comprehensive behavioral health system based on sound policy, effective practices, and partnerships.
