Service to Science Academy Download the Brochure for Service to Science The Southwest CAPT Service To Science Academy is a two-day workshop designed to enhance the capacity of states, sub-state recipients and community-based organizations/coalitions to plan, design, implement and evaluate evidence-based effective prevention interventions. Each Academy is customized to support the needs of the groups/organizations and programs accepted to attend, specifically toward the development of a strong evaluation and/or research design. Participants receive training and technical assistance helping them move along the evidence-based continuum. The application to attend a Service to Science Academy is a modified National Association of State Alcohol & Substance Abuse Directors (NASADAD) application for Innovative/Exemplary Programs. It is reviewed by a panel who makes recommendations for acceptance to the Academy. Content is then specifically customized to fit the needs of the accepted applicants. The Academy agenda generally includes:
Logistical and registration information will be provided to Service to Science Academy Participants when notified of their acceptance to the Academy. Attendees receive guidance on ways to strengthen their application and are encouraged to contact their state National Prevention Network (NPN) representative to gain support for their application to NASADAD for recognition as an innovative program.
