NASADAD announces the winners of the 2008 National Exemplary Award for Innovative Substance Abuse Prevention Programs, Practices, and Policies

WASHINGTON, DC (August 8, 2008) --- The National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors (NASADAD) has awarded six programs the 2008 National Exemplary Award for Innovative Substance Abuse Prevention Programs, Practices, and Policies. Underwritten by the federal Center for Substance Abuse Prevention, this Exemplary Award marks the nineteenth consecutive year of recognizing local, creative and effective programs working with the community to prevent substance abuse.

This year the winners are:

• How To Cope (Kansas City, Missouri)

• Partners in Prevention (Columbia, Missouri)

• Promoting Responsibility Through Education & Preparation (St. Louis, Missouri)

• Tehama County Mentoring Program (Red Bluff, California)

• Operation Aware (Tulsa, Oklahoma)

• Student 2 Student Peer Mentor Program (Houston, Texas)

Award winning programs receive $1,500 and are invited to attend and showcase their work at the 21st Annual National Prevention Network’s Research Conference on August 24-27, 2008 in Indianapolis, IN.
