US Department of Education (USED) Grants to Reduce Alcohol Abuse Program (GRAAP)

The US Department of Education, Office of Elementary and Secondary Education, Safe and Drug Free Schools Program (SDFS) and SAMHSA/CSAP have agreed that the SECAPT will provide training and technical assistance to local educational agencies’ grantees under USED’s “Grants to Reduce Alcohol Abuse Program” targeting the reduction of alcohol use and abuse by secondary school students. In 2007 and 2008, grants were awarded for up to $450,000 (based on funding availability) to 28 school districts in 9 southeastern states. Each grantee has implemented one or more evidence-based programs or strategies as defined by NREPP for this purpose. The CAPTs provide one national training and technical assistance conference and up to two regional training and technical assistance conferences each year for the grantees. They also provide and facilitate individual training and technical assistance opportunities, either onsite or using current technology, as needed and as funds allow.
