Pamela Cupp, Ph.D. — Louisville Deputy Center Director

Dr. Pam Cupp has a Ph.D. in instructional and interpersonal communication from the University of Kentucky and has been involved in program design and implementation targeting adolescents and young adults for over two decades. Specifically, for the last ten years she has been working with Rick Zimmerman and colleagues at the University of Kentucky in the development and testing of school-based HIV and pregnancy prevention interventions. Additionally, Cupp has been responsible for developing training workshops to improve teacher engagement and effectiveness in delivering HIV prevention programs. For the past three years, Cupp served as the lead curriculum developer for a school-based alcohol and HIV prevention study in South Africa that has been shown to significantly reduce sexual initiation among grade 9 learners. Additionally, she has been the lead developer in an interactive, computer-based activity “game” that allows students to make dating choices that lead to positive or negative health consequences. She is currently the Deputy Director of the Louisville Center of PIRE.
