in evidence-based programs and practices. Sifting through prevention
materials, identifying appropriate organizations, and finding clear and
appropriate guidance on key challenges can be daunting for any professional.
This section attempts to provide a starting point to address these issues.
Strategic Prevention Framework
SAMHSA’s Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) is a five-step process
designed to guide the planning, implementation and evaluation of all
substance abuse prevention, treatment and mental health services at both
the state and community levels. This section contains information related
to the SPF: What it is and tools for implementing each of its steps.
Prevention Materials
The materials included in this section have been developed by the Northeast
CAPT to help practitioners design, select, implement, and evaluate
prevention programs that will give them the greatest chance of achieving
the outcomes they have set for themselves.

Prevention Database
The Northeast CAPT has created a searchable database of effective prevention
programs approved by a variety of federal and research agencies. Visitors
can compare selection criteria across agencies, review information about
the sources those agencies used for their evaluations, and find contact
information and descriptions of each intervention.
States
This section contains information that will help you navigate the prevention
networks in each of the 11 states in the Northeast region. It also contains
information about the current Strategic Planning Framework State Incentive
Grant (SPF-SIG) program and past State Incentive Grant grantees.
Northeast CAPT News Update
This electronic newsletter is available to prevention professionals in
