U.S. Department of Education Grants to Reduce Alcohol Abuse
CSAP’s Central CAPT has 20 Grants To Reduce Alcohol Abuse Program (GRAAP) grantees funded through the U.S. Department of Education.
Each grantee site uses a minimum of one Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Science-based Prevention Model Program in their school system. These programs have been shown to be effective in substance abuse prevention. The GRAAP goal is to reduce alcohol abuse targeting students in secondary schools.
Central CAPT offers services to grantee sites by:
Twice a year, the grantees across the nation come together for a national technical assistance meeting. This past Spring the meeting was the sixth of a series of National Technical Assistance Meetings designed to provide information and assistance to grantees to help facilitate underage drinking prevention program implementation, develop a learning community and provide opportunities to network and share strategies with other grantees. The TA meetings have been well attended by an average of 200 participants, mostly schoolteachers and prevention professionals.
