Youth-led Prevention: What's Effective?

Goal:

To help participants learn to facilitate a wider variety of youth-led prevention activities and expand the reach of prevention efforts by engaging a broader base of youth leaders.

Target Audience:

This workshop is designed for school and community prevention specialists and other adult youth leaders who seek more ways to get students involved in prevention activities.

Training Objectives:

As a result of participating in this training, participants will be better able to:

  1. Understand and use the range and major categories of youth-led prevention strategies.
  2. Determine and implement effective youth-led strategies to meet goals for your school and community.
  3. Understand standards that guide the start-up, implementation
    and maintenance of quality youth-led prevention programs and activities.
  4. Access resources to identify and implement effective youth-led prevention strategies
 

Format of Training:

The workshop can run anywhere from 90 minutes to 6 hours.

Ninety-minute workshop- present content, give handouts and conduct selected activities.

Four-hour workshop- present content, give handouts and conduct activities, with the exception of the Roundtable activity.

Six-hour workshop- present content, give handouts and conduct all activities.
